Q1. Using the Photoelectric Effect simulation, determine the following:
a) The threshold wavelength and threshold frequency for Na, Zn, Cu, Pt, and Ca.
Calculate the associated work function for each material.
b) Determine the above characteristics for the unknown material and, from the
information gathered, identify the material. Comment on the differences between the
characteristics of the materials and how they relate to the idea of quantised energy
and discrete energy levels.
c) Plot a graph of stopping voltage against frequency to find the work function of
sodium. Overall, you are trying to determine the voltage required to prevent electrons
from reaching the anode at increasingly higher frequencies. Set the intensity to 100%
and the battery voltage at 0V. Work from 800nm down to 150nm in steps of ~ 50nm,
